Biography

Donna Farris, LCSW, has been a licensed mental health professional in private practice in Southern California since 1990. Additionally, she has over 25 years of experience as a medical social worker working in acute care hospitals, home care, and hospice setting. She is an accomplished speaker, author, and educator.
Donna’s specialty is in oncology, working on several inpatient oncology units. Donna facilitated hospital-based education and support groups for cancer patients and their families for 15 years. She has led weekly grief support and education programs for the past six years. Donna has been a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist since 2012. .
As a co-creator of the Healing Odyssey Retreat Program, Donna facilitated empowerment retreats for women cancer survivors for over 18 years. Through that program, she has helped over 1000 women in their emotional recovery from the stresses of cancer.
Over her career, she has held clinical and managerial positions in the academic, health care, and non-profit sectors.
Donna has been instrumental in the creation of two family resource centers in Southern California. The centers’ mission was to provide education, support, and resources for families during the parenting years.
Donna is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University majoring in Sociology. She has her Masters in Social Work from University of Connecticut.
Donna was the recipient of the annual St. Joseph Health System Values in Action award for Service in 2004 for her hospital social work. She received the Soroptimist International Ruby Award for Women Helping Women in 2011 for her commitment to women cancer survivors through the Healing Odyssey program.
Donna’s energy, compassion, knowledge, and guidance has helped thousands of people over the years to overcome major life challenges and live their best life yet. Her goal is to help others to create a roadmap from a place of fear to a place of peace and healing.
Donna currently has a successful private psychotherapy practice in Orange County, California. She is also employed by a non-profit hospice.
